A: The term plastic surgery comes from the Greek word, plastikos, which means to form or to mold. Plastic surgery is a technological and scientific based form of surgery which is aimed at restoring or enhancing form or function: While we at Cosmetic Surgical Solutions are known to the public for the cosmetic surgery we perform, others in plastic surgery do mainly reconstructive procedures such as cranio-facial surgery, microsurgery, breast reconstruction, cleft lip repair and hand surgery.

Q: What is cosmetic surgery?

A: Cosmetic surgery is surgery done to supersede  normal; in other words, to enhance your normal appearance. --Ex: normal breasts made larger and usually not paid by insurance companies.

Q: What is reconstructive surgery?

A: Reconstructive surgery is surgery usually done to restore a person to normal function.  Ex: tendon repair after a hand injury and may be paid by insurance companies.

Q: Will my photos be used to educate other patients?

A: Only if you grant us permission to do so. If you don't permit that, the photos are kept in your chart and never shown to others.

Q: Can I do two cosmetic procedures at the same time? (tummy tuck and nose reshaping; breast enlargement and liposuction)

A: Absolutely.

Q: Are brochures available for cosmetic procedures?

A: Yes and we will be happy to send them to you.

Q: Are you board certified?

A: Yes- by The American Board of Plastic Surgery.

Q: Are you members of the American Society of Plastic and Reconstruction Surgeons?

A: Yes

Q: Are you members of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery?

A: Absolutely

Q: How will I know if a procedure will be paid by an insurance company?

A: Ask your Reconstructive surgeon to write a letter of predetermination to the company before the surgery. Do not have a surgery unless you have a written answer; otherwise you will be responsible for the whole bill.

Q: How much does a cosmetic procedure cost?

A: It depends on the procedure. Cosmetic Surgical Solutions has always been willing to give you the total fees on the telephone.

The total fee combines

1) Surgeons fee

2) Operating room fee

3) Anesthesia fee

4) Cost of implants (if applicable)

Q: Can I make payments?

A: Cosmetic Surgical Solutions accepts Visa and Mastercard and for your convenience, has a financial plan through our local bank.

Q: Can I see photos of patients who have had procedures that I am interested in?

A: Cosmetic Surgical Solutions, Yes!

Q: Who is a candidate for cosmetic surgery?

A: The ideal candidate for the cosmetic surgery is an individual who recognizes a specific area in which his or her appearance could be improved and has a strong desire to make a change. It is important to have realistic expectations regarding cosmetic surgery. It should be done only to enhance your self image and may give you greater self-confidence and add to your sense of well being. But by itself, the cosmetic surgery will not guarantee happiness nor can you expect it to improve your relationship with others.

We can only enhance your appearance. Your happiness and your relationships depends on you alone.

Q: How much is a consultation?

A: We charge $35 for a cosmetic consultation and apply it to the surgical fee when the surgery is done within 6 months.

Q: What should I expect from my consultation?

A: Dr. Douglas Ramos believes that only after being fully informed can a person make a decision about something as important as cosmetic surgery.

Therefore your consultation will include:

- A personal consultation with the physician.

- Full discussion of the surgical procedure you are interested in.

- Examination to determine if you are a candidate for the cosmetic procedure.

- Estimation of recovery time.

- Review of possible risk and complications.

- Examination of pre and post operative photos.

- Presentation and review of a written detailed fee quote.
